Week 22

Here is the latest picture of me. No laughing now! I'm feeling really good, but am super tired all the time. I sleep a lot, roughly 9 hours/night, which is a lot for me. I also take naps whenever I can. Babycenter.com says this week: "How your baby's growing:
Your baby now looks like a miniature newborn, checking in at 10.9 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound. Her skin will continue to appear wrinkled until she gains enough weight to fill it out, and the fine hair (lanugo) that covers her head and body is now visible. Her lips are becoming more distinct, and the first signs of teeth are appearing as buds beneath her gum line. Her eyes are developed, though the iris (the colored part of the eye) still lacks pigment. Eyelids and eyebrows are in place, and her pancreas, essential for hormone production, is developing steadily."

Week 21

We had our ultrasound this week and we were supposed to find out what the sex was... however, our child was in the worst position ever. The technician thinks it's a boy, but couldn't give us a definate. Boo! Regardless, our kid is super cute! Here is the picture. Its a little dark, but you can see the little profile of the face and body. The bright circle in the middle is a part of the umbilical cord.
Babycenter.com says: "How your baby's growing:
Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long — the length of a carrot. His eyebrows and eyelids are fully developed. And you can certainly feel him move. He's oblivious to your schedule, though, so don't be surprised if he starts working out just when you're settling down for the night. If you're having a girl, her vagina is formed now, though it will continue to develop until birth."
I had another doctor's appt last week and here are the stats:
So here are the stats:
Weeks: 21
Doctor says: "What a brat. He won't hold still so I can get a heartbeat." The heartbeat was in the mid 150's/min once she finally got a few beats to get a reading.
Feeling: Terrific and sleepy!
Clothes: I had smaller clothes at one time?! I went shopping on ebay and now I have plenty of clothes!
Weight: Gained 4 more pounds. Doctor seems to be happy about that!

Working on the Nursery

My Dad and sister worked on my nursery over the holidays by painting it white (it used to be a dark clay red) and Peter helped put up the chair rail. Here, my sister is working on the faux finish. Yeah, almost done!

Progress on the Nursery

So, my Dad and sister did a bunch of work on the nursery over Christmas, making the walls white instead of clay red. My dad and Peter put up a chair rail and painted that as well. Cheryl is seen here starting the faux finish on the walls. Almost done!

19 Weeks

So, here I am getting even bigger. We are really excited, as we are getting another ultrasound in a few weeks to determine the sex of our baby. We will wait to register until that is determined. Babycenter.com says: "How your baby's growing:
Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces, and he measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. His arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of his body now. His kidneys continue to make urine, and the hair on his scalp is sprouting. This is a crucial time for sensory development: Your baby's brain is designating specialized areas for smell, taste, hearing, vision, and touch. If your baby is a girl, she has an astonishing 6 million eggs in her ovaries. They'll dwindle to fewer than two million by the time she's born."

15 Weeks

So, here I am... fat and sassy. It's week 15 and I just had my monthly doctor's appt. So here are the stats:
Weeks: 15
Doctor says: "Wow this kid is a mover," as she tries for the fifth time to find and keep the heartbeat on the doppler.
Feeling: Terrific. I'm pretty tired, but I'd take tired over nauseous!
Clothes: I haven't seen my pre-baby clothes in over a week. There's only one more pair of pants that fits, so time to go shopping.
Weight: Gained only 1 pound. Doctor isn't too happy about that, but nothing to worry about!

Babycenter.com says this about week 14:How your baby's growing:
This week's big developments: Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb.
In other news: Your baby's stretching out. From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces. His body's growing faster than his head, which now sits upon a more distinct neck. By the end of this week, his arms will have grown to a length that's in proportion to the rest of his body. (His legs still have some lengthening to do.) He's starting to develop an ultra-fine, downy covering of hair, called lanugo, all over his body. Your baby's liver starts making bile this week — a sign that it's doing its job right — and his spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. Though you can't feel his tiny punches and kicks yet, your little pugilist's hands and feet (which now measure about 1/2 inch long) are more flexible and active.
Week 15: How your baby's growing:
Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). She's busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but she is forming taste buds. Finally, if you have an ultrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby's a boy or a girl! (Don't be too disappointed if it remains a mystery, though. Nailing down your baby's sex depends on the clarity of the picture and on your baby's position. He or she may be modestly curled up or turned in such a way as to "hide the goods.")
